New Traditions

Have thoughts of the winter holidays got you down? Though Christmastime can be a joy to experience it’s also a time to remember those we’ve lost, and frankly it can get depressing. So why not considering going a completely new way this year? Nix the old traditions by grabbing your best mates and heading out into the country for a holiday celebration. With a little bit of web browsing you’ll find that there are still some good deals to be found.
Plus the English countryside can be as exciting or as restful as you choose. To alleviate those winter doldrums you and your pals may consider frequenting some of the local pubs throughout the various villages and townships. Unlike your average American bar where community is less the thing – pubs (or public houses) are often the very heart of a village, where you’re invited to share laughs, camaraderie, interesting conversations – of course pints of delicious beers of various strengths and styles – and delicious and hearty pub fare such as Cornish pasties, fish and chips, bangers and mash, and more.
In the winter season the villages put on their best show with lights, wreaths, candles and crackling fires – making everything seem extra special and filled with good cheer. Why not challenge your mates to a couple of games of darts, dominoes or cards? Winner buys next round!
The winter holidays need not be solitary and gloomy; consider rounding up your mates, ditching the bustle of the city and heading to the country for a new kind of a winter holiday.
